In 1990 some Italian friends founded the Deutsch-Italienische Gesellschaft Unna e. V. [German-Italian Association in Unna]. This was inspired by the idea of an intensive exchange with Italy and a form of European amalgamation – the concept of „our shared Europe“. Until now the interest in exchanging information, Italian culture, language and history forms the basis for meetings with Italians. Particularly close contacts exist to Pisa, Unna’s twin town. The DIG offers a range of events: lectures, readings, exhibitions, theatre and film presentations, concerts, language courses etc. Trips and parties are also organised.
