In 1957 the Schlesierverein Unna founded the Ostdeutsche Heimatstube [East German „homeland parlour“] to keep alive reminiscences of the former homeland. Today the Heimatstube is both a meeting point and a museum. It can be seen after making an appointment. Talks, lectures and taking part in neighbour-based events ensure communication with the population.
