Historical locations | Apartments for Belgian officers on the site of the former „Düllberg“ brick factory

When the Belgian army was stationed in Unna in 1949 the soldiers were faced with staying for an unlimited length of time. After a certain period they planned to bring their families to Unna, and this brought about the problem of insufficient living space.
At the beginning of the 1950s, quarters were constructed for the officers of the Belgian army and their families that were located in the current „Am Südfriedhof“ road (Goethestraße at that time).
Because these apartments could however not meet overall requirements – the town still suffered under the destruction of World War II – a further 25 apartments were built for members of the Belgian military and their families on the site of the former Düllberg brick factory.
